Help lines and support programs
Public help lines and support programs for mental health, work problems, money and daily life, medical costs, childcare, and family care. Most are free, and you can talk without giving your name.
- Yorisoi Hotline, foreign language line (よりそいホットライン) — Free help for any worry, such as daily life or feelings. Call and press "2" when you hear the guidance.
- Consultation Dial for Foreign Workers (外国人労働者向け相談ダイヤル, MHLW) — Talk by phone in your language about working conditions (unpaid wages, dismissal, long working hours, etc.). Call charges apply.
- Working Conditions Hotline (労働条件相談ほっとライン) — Free phone help about working conditions at night and on weekends and holidays. Many languages available.
- Immigration Services Agency Information Center (外国人在留総合インフォメーションセンター) — Ask about residence status and procedures in many languages.
- Foreign Residents Support Center (FRESC / 外国人在留支援センター) — A center with help desks for residence procedures, work, human rights, and legal problems. You can ask by phone.
- Guidebook on Living and Working (生活・就労ガイドブック, Immigration Services Agency) — A guidebook in many languages with information for living and working in Japan (work, medical care, raising children, where to get help).
